American Indian and Alaska Native youth face higher rates of alcohol and drug use, often starting at an earlier age than other youth populations. Effective prevention programs must be culturally relevant and tailored to these communities.
This article provides recommendations for modernizing such programs to enhance their effectiveness and cultural appropriateness, ultimately aiming to reduce substance misuse among Native youth.
