Researchers surveyed 476 Lebanese university students and recent graduates aged 18 to 30. They used a questionnaire to assess symptoms such as pelvic pain, urinary urgency and frequent urination.
Current tobacco or nicotine users reported substantially more screening-positive urinary symptoms than non-users. Higher cigarette or cigar consumption was also linked with greater symptom burden. Because the study was cross-sectional and relied on questionnaire screening, it cannot establish that tobacco or nicotine caused these symptoms or confirm a clinical diagnosis.
