This structured narrative review examined research on e-cigarette use and sleep among adolescents and young adults. Six empirical studies and one previous narrative review met the inclusion criteria.
Across large datasets, exclusive e-cigarette users were repeatedly more likely to report insufficient sleep. Dual users of cigarettes and e-cigarettes generally showed the strongest associations. The authors also note that the relationship may work in both directions: nicotine use may affect sleep, while sleep problems may increase vulnerability to vaping.
