Characteristics of e-Cigarette Use Behaviors Among US Youth, 2020

These results suggest that although current e-cigarette use decreased during 2019 to 2020, overall prevalence, frequent use, and flavored e-cigarette use remained high. Continued actions are warranted to prevent and reduce e-cigarette use among US youth.

Preliminary evaluation of short-term abstinence effects among never-smoking experienced users of modern electronic cigarettes

ECIG use has increased among non-smokers, with the potential negative consequence of developing nicotine dependence. ECIG users report withdrawal symptoms upon abstinence, though the significance of these symptoms has been questioned. This preliminary study aimed to characterize the early timecourse of ECIG withdrawal under forced abstinence.

A Rapid and Sensitive Chemical Screening Method for E-Cigarette Aerosols Based on Runtime Cavity Ringdown Spectroscopy

Growing demand of Juul and other electronic cigarettes, despite critical knowledge gaps about their chemical composition, has led to concerns regarding their potential health effects. We introduce a novel analytical approach, runtime cavity ringdown spectroscopy (rtCRDS) for rapid detection of oxidative products in e-cigarette aerosols, to facilitate the study of aerosol from a single puff of e-liquid.

CBD, a precursor of THC in e-cigarettes

The use of cannabidiol (CBD) in electronic cigarettes is widespread. Previously, it was reported that CBD is partly transformed to THC in case smoking as a cigarette, however, the pyrolysis of this compound has not been assessed extensively. The aim of our study was to investigate the effect of temperature on the composition of pyrolysis products of CBD.

Assessing the Social Influences, Self-Esteem, and Stress of High School Students Who Vape

Adolescent vaping is rapidly rising in Canada, and e-cigarettes have become the most widely used tobacco product among high school students; 29% of students in grades 10 to 12 reported e-cigarette use in 2019. Vaping among adolescents is a problem because the long-term health consequences of e-cigarettes remain unknown, large numbers of teens are becoming addicted to the harmful drug nicotine, and vaping has been shown to increase risk of initiation of combustible tobacco product use.
