A Quick Method for the Determination of the Fraction of Freebase Nicotine in Electronic Cigarettes

Recently, many electronic cigarettes (ECIGs) manufacturers have begun offering e-liquids, known as "nicotine salts". These salts that have started gaining big popularity among users can be formed by adding weak acid to e-liquid mixtures consisting of propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerin (VG), flavors, and nicotine. The tobacco industry (TI) has undermined tobacco control policy for decades. The WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control Article 5.3 implementation guidelines provide guidance for preventing TI interference. Government officials responsible for policy implementation must understand these guidelines to manage TI tactics. This study assessed awareness, attitudes and practices of Article 5.3 guidelines among members of District Level Coordination Committees (DLCC) in Karnataka mandated with overseeing tobacco control activity.

Smokeless Tobacco Use and Cessation Attempts during COVID-19 Lockdown: A Qualitative Study

Smokeless tobacco (SLT) use among women is widely prevalent in Manipur state accounting for 45% users as per Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS)-2 India. Studies from India and elsewhere indicate changes in the way people used SLT during COVID-19 lockdown. This study explores individual and economic influences on SLT consumption and cessation attempts by tribal women in Manipur during the first COVID-19 lockdown (March-June, 2020) in India.
