Background: Tobacco smoke contains various toxins that negatively affect the human reproductive system. Caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE), a potent antioxidant, has protective effects on the reproductive system against oxygen-free radicals, methotrexate, and pesticides. Herein, the effect of CAPE on some key markers of endometrial receptivity has been evaluated.
Introduction: With growing trends in tobacco consumption, it has been observed that the age of initiation is gradually decreasing. To combat the deep-rooted problem of the Society, we need to target the adolescents at the time of their first consumption of tobacco forms. Hence, this study was conducted to assess the pattern of smokeless tobacco use among school going adolescents in senior secondary schools with the assessment of the sociodemographic factors responsible for initiation of smokeless tobacco use by adolescents.
Introduction: E-cigarettes (ECs) portable battery-operated devices developed as a strategy for tackling tobacco-related harm are now becoming a global threat to human health.
Introduction: India introduced the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) (Packaging and Labeling [P and L]) Rules in 2008. These rules utilize the tobacco package to communicate tobacco-caused harms; it also seeks to restrict the delivery of misleading information about the product on the pack. The enormous burden of tobacco-related oral cancers in India necessitates the compliance with the law regarding presentation of information in powerful and salient ways, intentionally designed to increase the awareness in target individuals.
Aim and objective: Tobacco can alter the antioxidative capacity of saliva, and it is the first fluid that is exposed to tobacco. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) is the first line defense antioxidant that plays an important protective role against peroxidation of lipids, converts superoxide radicals into hydrogen peroxide, and decreases the toxic effects of free radicals. The aim of this study was to estimate and compare the levels and activity of SOD in the saliva of smokeless tobacco (SLT) consumers and non-consumers.
Background and aim: Smoking leads to a very unhealthy lifestyle and has many deleterious effects on the body and surroundings. Studies have indicated that aiding contemplating smokers using behavior counseling and nicotine replacement therapy has shown positive results for abstaining from the habit.
Over a million Indians die prematurely due to tobacco use. How do you address this public health crisis?
Background: Although non-pharmacological smoking cessation measures have been widely used among smokers, current research evidence on the effects of smoking cessation is inconsistent and of mixed quality. Moreover, there is a lack of comprehensive evidence synthesis. This study seeks to systematically identify, describe, and evaluate the available evidence for non-pharmacological interventions in smoking populations through evidence mapping (EM), and to search for best-practice smoking cessation programs.
